Mike Mitchell grew up in Old Forge and graduated from The Town of Webb Schools in 1982.  He was accepted at West Point and graduated from the US Military Academy in 1987 as a 2nd Lieutenant with a degree in Engineering.  He served in the US Army in Germany, Panama, and in the states.  Mike owned and operated an environmentally sensitive photo lab in the 1990's.  He also worked as a Chemical Engineer in California for 8 years.
Mike traveled to Alaska for work and pleasure over the past 20 years, maintaining a boat, snowmobile, and airplane for many of those years.  Mike's travels in Alaska include nearly every corner of the state in all weather conditions.  He has seen and photographed some awesome sights from Ketchikan to Nome and has many exciting and interesting stories to tell.
Mike started flying in 1987 in El Paso, Texas.  He has accumulated over 4,500 hours of flight time.  Mike recently reopened the Old Forge Airport after 20 years of dormancy.
Currently, Mike operates American Infrared (Thermal Camera Sales) and Adirondack Home Sales, a land development and home construction company here in Old Forge, New York.
